Glaston at Glasstech Asia — 36 sqm Custom Stand
The Brief
Glaston — a Finnish glass processing technology company — needed a 36 sqm stand at Glasstech Asia in Singapore. Glasstech Asia draws glass manufacturers, processors and architectural glazing buyers from across the region who assess equipment manufacturers closely. As a leading glass processing company, Glaston's stand needed to communicate technical credibility, provide a working environment for product discussions and deliver a finish quality consistent with a company whose customers evaluate precision engineering as a matter of course.
The Constraint
Three elements defined the difficulty and all had to coexist within 36 sqm. First, a backlit lightbox logo as the primary brand identifier required even internal illumination and artwork calibrated for backlit colour output — logo colour under LED backlight differs from the flat-print reference and must be tested before the show. Second, a branded totem — a freestanding tall display column carrying the Glaston identity at a height visible across the show floor — required structural engineering for stability and precise fabrication for the graphic faces it carried. A totem that shifts position or reads as poorly finished at a precision engineering show makes the wrong statement. Third, the finish and detailing throughout had to be at the standard a Singapore venue buyer audience expects: a glass technology buyer who measures flatness in microns notices when a panel junction is not clean.
The Approach
The lightbox was designed with LED strip spacing and diffuser depth sufficient to produce edge-to-edge even illumination at the logo dimensions. Artwork was colour-calibrated for the LED output and tested against the Glaston brand reference in the workshop before transport. The totem was designed as a self-contained structural unit with a weighted base and precision-finished brand graphic faces. Its position within the 36 sqm footprint was planned to be visible from the main show circulation route without obstructing the internal meeting and product discussion zones. The rest of the stand used white and glass-reference finishes — clean, precise surfaces appropriate to a glass technology brand — with product display and buyer seating clearly separated.
The Build
The lightbox was assembled and test-lit in the workshop with the final graphic in place to confirm illumination evenness and colour against the brand reference before packing. The totem was fabricated as a separate self-contained unit for transport. On-site, the structural stand was assembled first, confirmed level and square at each stage. The lightbox was installed, reconnected and tested before the surface panels closed around it. The totem was positioned and secured last. All painted and lacquered surfaces were finished in the workshop and arrived site-ready. A full junction and surface quality check was completed before the show opened.
