MCB Group at Vitafoods Asia — 36 sqm Stand with Lightbox Towers
The Brief
MCB Group — a nutraceutical ingredients company — needed a 36 sqm stand at Vitafoods Asia in Bangkok. Vitafoods Asia draws cosmetic chemists, R&D directors and procurement buyers with a close-range technical assessment habit. MCB Group needed the stand to communicate scientific credibility from aisle distance, display the ingredient range clearly and give the sales team a defined working environment for buyer conversations. Two specific structural elements — lightbox towers and a hanging fascia — were central to the brief.
The Constraint
Lightbox towers require even LED illumination throughout the face panel without visible hot spots or uneven brightness bands. At the height typical of trade show lightbox towers, the number of LED strip positions, their spacing and the diffuser panel specification determine whether the face reads as evenly lit or shows the LED source pattern beneath the diffuser. Getting this right without a physical prototype requires accurate LED and diffuser specification and, where possible, a workshop test before the show. The hanging fascia carried the same approval and submission requirements as any suspended element at a Bangkok venue — hang point allocation, load documentation and organiser sign-off needed to be in place before the build-up window.
The Approach
Two lightbox towers were designed as the dominant visual element on the primary aisle face, carrying the MCB Group brand in reverse cut-out backlit format. Each tower was designed with a diffuser depth and LED strip spacing sufficient to produce edge-to-edge even illumination at the specified operating height. The hanging fascia was a single aluminium-framed panel with the brand identity, positioned above the centre of the footprint on the main hall circulation axis. The buyer seating and product display were positioned between and behind the towers, with the towers acting as framing for the stand interior from the aisle approach.
The Build
Both lightbox tower sections were fabricated, assembled and test-lit in the workshop before transport. Illumination evenness was confirmed at the workshop against the approved graphic colours before the panels were packed. The hanging fascia was pre-assembled as a single unit. On-site, rigging and fascia installation came first. Towers were assembled and positioned after the structural frame was confirmed. Lighting was tested again after the on-site assembly to confirm the transport and installation had not affected the LED connections.
