Oleon at In-Cosmetics Asia — 60 sqm Island Stand
The Brief
Oleon — a European oleochemical company producing personal care ingredients under the Oleon and Avril brands — needed a 60 sqm island stand at In-Cosmetics Asia in Bangkok. The stand needed to display both product lines, provide buyer meeting space and communicate a visual standard consistent with the premium positioning of the Avril personal care range. In-Cosmetics Asia draws cosmetic chemists and R&D buyers who evaluate ingredient suppliers at close range, making finish quality a commercial signal as much as an aesthetic one.
The Constraint
The brief required precision detailing throughout: clean junctions between the timber slat wall panels and painted surfaces, flush-fitting graphics, consistent shadow gaps at every material transition, and an internally lit hanging drum sign precisely aligned on the centre axis of the stand. In-Cosmetics Asia buyers spend extended time at each stand they find relevant, examining products and materials at a distance of less than a metre. Any inconsistency in the surface finish, any visible joint in the slat spacing, any misalignment in the drum sign, is noticed. At 60 sqm the stand has enough faces and transitions for the detail count to be significant. Maintaining that quality across every element, through fabrication and transport to on-site installation, was the specific challenge.
The Approach
The timber slat wall was the dominant material choice — a natural reference appropriate to personal care ingredients, providing visual texture without requiring graphics to carry the brand at close range. Slat spacing and the reveal between slats were calibrated so the rhythm read consistently at aisle distance and at close range. All junctions between timber and painted surfaces used a shadow gap to mask installation tolerance variation and read as an intentional detail rather than a workaround. The hanging drum sign was positioned on the main aisle axis and lit internally with an even LED source. Buyer seating and a product display counter were positioned within the stand interior, defined by the wall geometry.
The Build
Timber slat panels were pre-finished in the workshop and assembled as complete wall sections. Each section was checked for slat spacing consistency before transport. At the venue, sections were positioned and fixed in sequence, with every joint checked for alignment as the walls went up. The hanging drum sign was installed and tested for illumination evenness before the graphic skin was applied. Final dressing of the product display and any surface touch-up was completed on the last day of the build-up window.
